Various Digital Gryphon Decks

Part 1 of 2

An introduction to various Tarot (and other Oracle) Decks from The Digital Gryphon available Printed on Demand from The Gamecrafter.com.

This post will cover three decks that feature content by other folks. Two versions of the The Tarot of Sister Who that I am shepherding for Den (Sister Who’s mundane identity) and the new Official Romanovsky & Phillips Lyrical Oracle Deck that I edited and produced (under license). Also see this post with three variations of my Sister Flirt’s Meditations Cards also available from TheGameCrafter.

All The GameCrafter Cards are printed on 12 point (320gsm) black-core matte card stock; UV coated to protect from dirt, scratches, and moisture. Some of these decks are packaged in an industry standard ‘tuck box’ while the Jumbo TSW is in a 2 part hard box and Choose JOY is in a custom tin as you will see in the next post. All decks are printed to order; the TGC web-site does tend to show generous lead times as they also produce complex custom board games.
The Tarot of Sister Who
This deck has been designed for personal spiritual growth rather than divination or prognostication. That being said, there are more than enough parallels for the deck to be used that way in the right hands.

The biggest change to the Rider/ Waite/ Smith paradigm that Sister Who brings to their deck is their replacements for the traditional Court Cards- the pages, knights, queens and kings. I think of them as CCR (court card replacements). The next most impactful change is placing the 22 card Major Suit within a more physical journey. Not that either TSW or traditional versions of the majors card names are exclusively spiritual/psychological or totally mundane.

The Digital Gryphon LLC is not the Publisher of The Tarot Of Sister Who. We prepared Production Files and are providing marketing support; we’ll receive nominal compensation for those efforts.

iamgesThe Official R&P Lyrical Oracle Deck
A deck of 46 cards with a Keyword/ Phrase across the top inspired by lyrics (also included on the card) from the catalogue of Romanovsky & Phillips, and Ron Romanovsky‘s solo career.

As with most ‘Oracle Decks‘ published these days, this is not a fortune-telling deck but a collection of prompts for personal reflection, with both affirmations and ‘shadow aspects’ to consider. Many of the phrases are pretty typical of Oracle decks, but a few will be more familiar to folks in, or familiar with, gay male/queer cultures. At the same time, the combination of quoted lyrics with the Key Word/ Phrase on each card make unnecessary an additional Guidebook.

The Official R&P Lyrical Oracle Deck includes
* 46 hexagonal Oracle Cards;
* 2 hexagonal Title, Info Cards;
* In a custom printed ‘Tuck Box’.
