Guncle Tarot Academy

I have been asked if I offer classes in reading Tarot. Or if I plan on doing so. Will I be expanding into other aspects of running a ‘Mystical Business‘?
As for ‘teaching a Tarot class’ – No.
There are many ways in which the ‘democratization’ brought about by the Internet has been a good thing. Watching a short video on how to replace an O-ring in a faucet, finding a store’s business hours, connecting with people who share some specific interest- priceless.

There are very, very many ways in which it has reinforced the fundamentalist attacks on ‘elites’ and the scientific method and conspiracy theories. Yes, denying access to someone based on racial, sexual, or other grounds is wrong.

Access should be limited only for valid and legal reasons. But special knowledge or skills still matter in some areas of life. I don’t want someone who’s just watched youTube videos to perform my next surgery. When it comes to spiritual matters (or to practicing as a Doctor, Lawyer, or Air Traffic Controller) watching a video, reading a book, taking a 6 Week Course, are just not replacements for doing the real work.

My advice?
# Buy a deck and a good introductory book, study them, use them. For as many months as it takes for you to begin to feel like you’ve graduated from Novice to Apprentice**;
# Then do dozens more readings- for yourself, for friends. Keep a journal of them;
# Add perhaps another book or deck, or watch some videos with a healthy dose of skepticism;
** I know some people don’t learn as well by book as another method- perhaps start with a course or a video as the first step.

Understand that nothing you hear or read from the above sources (including me) are Tarot Law. They are opinions and experience. Their value to you must be determined by you over time. Take your personal learning style into account.

As for ‘other Mystical Arts’:
Now that I’ve undergone cataract surgeries, I’ve resumed my long-stalled study of Astrology. But reaching a point of comfort to offering chart analysis is unlikely to be soon. I am far too much a novice at runes, numerology, casting spells, or other practices to offer them as separate services for the foreseeable future.
